Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to Our Lady of the Rosary for another great year! The staff and I are extremely excited about the opportunity to educate your children and help them grow as students. Be it through mass, writing workshop, reading workshop, or general education, I hope to inspire, motivate, and challenge your children daily. After joining the staff a few years ago, I've come to greatly appreciate all that the OLR community has to offer. The parent involvement, collaborative desires of the staff, and family atmosphere of the student body makes an excellent environment to learn and grow.
This year, your child will be exposed to two activities that will be a major component for their Language Arts and Reading grades: Reading Workshop.
Reading Workshop is something you'll be hearing a lot about, if you haven't already been informed. Through Reading Records, your child will document their thoughts related to their choice of literature. They are required to complete 4 reading records per week; each entry must be dated. The main focus of the Reading Workshop is to provide reading strategies to better improve reading comprehension, fluency and confidence.
Overall, I look forward to working with your child. As a teacher with this small of a class, I'll have the wonderful opportunity to quickly respond to the needs of your child. I can't tell you enough how excited I am to work with you and your child this year. We're going to strive for excellence, but also enjoy each other's company. I'm looking forward to a pleasant and productive school year.
