Mr. Alex Herrera
Teacher IntroDear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2010-2011 year at Our Lady of the Rosary School! My name is Mr. Alex Herrera, and as your child’s teacher this year, I hope to build strong, independent and responsible young adults in each of your children.
This year will be an exciting year for your children (and even you)! Aside from the usual school work, 7th graders can look forward to a variety of field trips, attending school dances, becoming faith family leaders, and perhaps most exciting of all, experiencing our new before/after-school programs! With so many things to look forward to, I’m sure you will be just as excited for your children as they will be to undertake these new opportunities.
In an effort to help our children grow into socially conscious and responsible individuals, Our Lady of the Rosary School has implemented a new service hour requirement for all 7th graders. All 7th grade students are required to complete 5 service hours in addition to completing the 7th grade curriculum in order to be promoted to the 8th grade. These hours can be completed in a variety of ways, so if you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.
For our new before/after-school programs, please be aware that all services are free for our students, but in order to participate, all students must turn in all required paperwork into the office. Space is limited to twenty students per teacher, and enrollment is a based on a “first come, first serve” basis, so please turn in all forms as soon as possible so that your child can participate in these free programs.
During the year, as field trips arise, and in an effort to keep them as inexpensive as possible, you may be asked to volunteer as drivers/chaperones. Please consider volunteering, as this is our only means of keeping costs for field trips down while still providing fun, educational experiences for your children outside of school. These volunteer hours do count towards your service hours, so please volunteer as much as you can.
It is my hope that this year will be a fun-filled year for your children and you! And with so many new opportunities in store for your children, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to an exciting time at Our Lady of the Rosary School!
Sincerely, Mr. Alex Herrera | San Francisco: Courtesy of Mrs. RodriguezPigeon Point: Courtesy of Mrs. Rodriguez |
